Family Leaps Into Pool After Bee Swarm Attack

This is the bizarre moment when an entire family of five leaps into a swimming pool after a swarm of bees began attacking them.

The drama was caught on a security camera outside a home in Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, southeastern Brazil, on 24th November.

Local media reported that the family had been picking mangoes on a vacant lot when they were suddenly surrounded by a swarm.

The bees are said to have stung the grandmother, father, mother, 11-year-old daughter, and 23-month-old son.

But after a neighbour heard the family’s screams, he shouted for them to get into the swimming pool in his garden.

CCTV video footage shows show how the mother rushes into the garden with the baby boy and are hosed down before jumping into the water.

He described the tot’s injuries as: “Innumerable stings on the face, scalp, torso, and upper limbs, and a small amount on the abdomen and lower limbs.”

As a safety measure, the boy was referred to the Clinical Hospital in nearby Ribeirao Preto, where he remained under observation at the time of reporting.

Dr Neto revealed: “Due to the huge number of stings, it could have a bad outcome, for this reason we preferred to refer him to a tertiary sector.”

The mother and daughter were kept in under observation locally, while the grandmother and father were treated and discharged.
