10k Bees Swarm Royal Car With Queen Bee

A car owner had to call for help after returning to his car to find nearly 10,000 bees swarming over the vehicle because two queen in a shared hive decided to leave their home and make a new one on the car.

The startling scene was recorded in the city of Zigong in the Sichuan province in China when nearly 10,000 bees surrounded a parked car when the driver was away, according to local media.

In the video, the bees can be seen clustering around the rear door and side panel of the silver car.

Local media report the number of bees swarming the car was increasing for an hour before the beekeeper arrived and caught the queen bees who were taken to a hive where the other bees then followed.

The driver, who has not been named in reports, said: “At the beginning, I saw the bees on a telegraph pole. But later the queen bees flew to my car. Then all the bees started to swarm around my car.

“I couldn’t get them away because the queens didn’t move. I have no idea how long they would’ve stayed on my car if the beekeeper hadn’t come to help me.”

The beekeeper added: “This is common. In fact, those bees were following the queen bees who had decided to ‘move home’. But for some reason they decided to stay on the car for a while.”

Some beekeepers use two-queen hives to try to increase honey production.
